New to Church?

Going to church doesn’t make a person a Christian – but it is a great place to find out the good news of Christianity.

Maybe you have never been to church, or very rarely. Perhaps you feel you are not even sure if there is a God. Here is the chance to find out what you are missing. There really is more to life than work, shopping, time with family, going through the ups and downs of life – and then dying.

The good news is that we were made to know God, to love him and to enjoy life with him forever. Tragically, the human race has turned its back upon God. We seek our happiness and build our lives on other things, ignoring God and breaking his laws. But God has entered our world, in the person of Jesus Christ.

Through the death of Jesus on a cross and his physical resurrection, God has made a way for human beings to come back to him. In Jesus, there is forgiveness for our rebellion and the mess we often make of our lives, power to be the people we should be, a meaning to life and certain hope for life beyond the grave. Now that’s good news! Why not come and learn more about it?

Finding out more:

Often people are cautious of ‘church’, but curious about spiritual things. If that describes you, we would love to give you the chance to find out more ‘on your own turf’. Would you like to read a free booklet that simply explains the Christian message? Can we give you a part of the Bible in modern English? Would you like a Christian to visit you?

People often choose a Christmas Carol Service or Easter Sunday Service when venturing to church for the first time, and these are great times to come – but there’s no need to wait until then.

Maybe one day…

Most people think that there must be some sort of God. Our vast, intricate universe cannot just have come from nowhere by accident! Often people do nothing else about it. Or they just guess what God is like and try to worship him in their own way. Others point to the evil and suffering in the world or the many different religions as an excuse for not doing anything. But deep down we know there is a living God. We sense that one day we must answer for the lives we have lived. How important to make it a priority to find out more about him. In the Bible, God says, “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near”. That’s good advice. One day it will be too late.
